Craft Happy and a Paper Buffet!

Buenos Dias, scrapbook friends! Greetings from Cancun! We are actually headed home today (Sunday) but it’s been a lovely almost-week of much needed R&R! I’ve also had the opportunity to visit with lots of my favorite people in the CM world and rub elbows with some of the people I admire most. My sweet husband got to come along with me, and I’m not sure it’s been as fun for him, but he has loved the opportunity to swim in the ocean and play Pokémon as much as he wants to. :)

I also got to see the new products coming Monday in person (AND the new products coming NEXT Monday) along with some sneak peeks of things CM is working on for the future. I’m excited about them - some more than others, of course - and SO glad that I can at least tell you about the new Craft Happy collection AND the promo launching Monday!

Of course this email also has info about my future events - including our 3rd annual The Longest Day fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association coming up in June! Read on for more!

Event Schedule

I cannot believe it is almost MAY! This month’s schedule is a little different because of the TWO National Scrapbook Day weekends, but hopefully there is still something that will work for you! I would love to have you join us for an event, or just drop by to check out my studio in Madison, Alabama:

Weekend Crop, Friday noon - 9 pm and/or Saturday 10 am - 6 pm.
May 2 & 3 (come both days or just one of them!) This is our ONLY regular crop this month and OF COURSE we will be having a Cinco de Mayo theme! (June crops will be the 13/14th and 27/28th for the Alzheimer’s fundraiser).

Mom & Me Crop

Bring one of the kids in your life for a fun Saturday of crafting together! This time we are doing a SPRING theme, so print out some Spring/Easter photos and we’ll create a mini album plus another Spring themed craft. Lunch is included in your fee. The Longest Day Fundraiser Crop

Last year we had a FANTASTIC fundraiser crop with Noreen Smith from the Creative Memories Home Office, and I had GRAND plans for 2025! Sadly, life has gotten in the way, and due to all of my “helpers” having life issues that prevent them from participating, I have decided to scale back to a normal crop at my studio once again. I’m still working out the details, but would like to know from you what you would like to see.

Craft Happy Collection

Believe it or not, there are crafts OTHER than scrapbooking! I know a lot of scrapbookers also do sewing, quilting and painting, and the new Craft Happy collection will be perfect for your photos of your other crafty hobbies.

The collection includes a super cute album cover, and of course the items in the buy-it-all bundle (which are also sold separately): Designer Paper, Mat Paper, Stickers, Vellum embellishments, Rub-on Transfers (!) and the super cute Scalloped Crochet Border Punch.

I want to veer off from my normal “this is what’s in the collection” email to give a bit more detail about a few of the products.

The Mat Paper is a relatively new thing, and I personally like it better than the regular Mat Packs, because if you don’t end up using all of the mats, the other side of the paper is a tonal that coordinates with the rest of the collection. You DO have to cut it apart yourself, but I think it’s a good trade off.

Later on in this email I’ll have a link to the new products preview page which will give you the chance to virtually flip through the papers in both paper packs.

The Vellum Embellishments are printed embellishments like we’re used to seeing, but they are on Vellum paper instead of regular paper! This means you can get a couple of different looks from them depending what paper you put them on!

In the photos below, you can first see the embellishments on a dark background, and then you’ll see I took the pincushion embellishment and put it on a white paper and it totally changes the look! It’s the exact same embellishment!

And finally the Rub-On Transfers - you may be familiar with these from other companies, but they are relatively new to CM (they’ve been in one of the secret boxes, I think?)

These are especially cute because they are STITCHING - which is really trendy in the greater scrapbooking world right now, but I gotta admit that I am way too lazy to actually take time to hand sew on my layouts!

You will want to CUT the different designs apart while still on the backing sheet and then use your Multipurpose Tool to gently rub the design onto your layout. But make sure you put it where you want it, because once it is down it can’t be moved! But I love that, unlike a sticker, there is no border and the design adheres right to the page!

I got to see these in action and I really think they are fun!

You can’t really see it in the photo but there IS a tiny CM Shutter Flower image on the pocket. I got to see this bag in person and it looks really handy - plenty of room in the big insulated section to hold even my big 32 oz. Owala bottle, and the outside zippered section has some interior pockets so you can stash your phone and keys inside. There’s even room for a pair of glasses (or two, if you’re like me and constantly going between readers and sunglasses!)

And it’s FREE! Starting Monday at noon there will be a section on the website (under the DEALS tab) called Last Chance Paper Buffet, where CM will be featuring some current and former paper packs AND cardstock colors that haven’t been available before. HOWEVER!
