Back to School means Back to Scrapbooking!

Happy Summer, everyone! I hope you are managing to stay cool in this crazy heat wave. Thanks to all of you who have inquired about my husband’s family in Hawaii - thankfully all of them live on Oahu, and not on Maui where the devastating fires happened, but watching the news footage has really hit home how hard it is to escape something like that when you live on an island, and we mourn for those who have lost their lives, livelihoods and belongings.

Wednesday Day Crops (9:00 am - 2:30 pm) Wednesday, August 16 and 23, and September 6, 13, 20 and 27. No day crop on the 30th because of the Rocket City Scrapbook Retreat starting the next day.

Our attendance has been pretty low this summer so I am hoping that now that school is starting back up again I will get to see some of you again!

Project Recipe Layout Class (6:00 - 8:00 pm): Tuesday, August 15. That’s this week!! Create two layouts using Birthday Bonanza and a “mystery” Project Recipe! (We’ll be using an older layout design with a mystery paper pack!)

Weekend crops (Friday noon - 9:00 pm and/or Saturday 10:00 am - 6:00 pm) Our regular cropping events. We’re glad to have you whether you can attend one of the days or both! I’ll contact you a couple of days ahead to talk about our potluck plans!

August 25 & 26 - no theme, just come crop with your friends!

Our next weekend crop won’t happen until the 15 & 16th of September, so I don’t have that set up for registration yet. That feels like a long way away, but i know it will be here before we know it!

*Zoom crops happen every Tuesday morning whether I am able to attend or not - several of the girls go on without me!

Rocket City Scrapbook Retreat

Last call for Mission 15 of the Rocket City Scrapbook Retreat, Labor Day Weekend. Choose to come Thursday, August 31 - Monday, September 4th, or if that’s too many days, there are several shorter options available. Registration ends on Saturday, August 19th! Please note that the hotel room block has technically closed BUT if you decide to join us, as of this writing my event planner can still manually add you at the block rate, it just can’t be done online.

Save the Date for Croptoberfest!!

Although we’re still feeling the summer heat outside, autumn is just around the corner (hooray!) and that means it’s Croptoberfest season!

Once again I will be holding two multi-day events at my studio in Madison, Alabama, so that I will have room for everyone who would like to join us. Registration for that will open up in my September email but I hope you’ll choose a date and mark that on your calendar before it fills up!

The event will begin on Thursday evening and run through Saturday night both weekends. October 26 - 28 OR November 2-4.

Shhh…. not quite a secret…

The new products I am about to tell you about will be released tomorrow (Monday), August 14th at noon Central time. BUT we’ve been told that the next Secret Box is coming the following Monday, August 21st.

I try so hard not to spam you guys or fill up your inbox for just one bit of news, but I also know that not everyone is on Facebook (and that Facebook is not reliable for passing on info in a timely manner!)

Back to School means back to Scrapbooking

Starting Monday, class will be BACK in session with the Back To School Complements products, which coordinate with the existing Back To School collection! These will launch at noon Central time on my website. If you are local to me and would like me to order any of them for you please get me your order BY EMAIL before 11:00 am on Monday (or I will be buying some extra to have in my inventory!)

While Back To School is primarily themed around academics, Back To School Complements are focused on extracurricular activities.

These products consist of ten embellishments packs featuring extra-large die-cuts that are perfect for easily making focal-point titles, in addition to a texture paper pack.

The ten embellishment packs available with this collection are:

You’ll notice that most of these embellishment packs cover more than one activity, but that is what allowed CM to have so many options. So perhaps you need the ice skating pieces but not the hockey, or the swimming pieces but not the running pieces. That’s okay! The packs are just $5 each and the idea is that you can use the parts you need without feeling guilty about giving (or throwing) away the rest. This will be a good way for CM to determine which extracurricular activities it is we are scrapbooking!

Even if you don’t have school albums to work on, these embellishments can be used for spectator events, or just-for-fun activities that adults participate in too!

Additionally, there is a great Back to School Texture Paper Pack which has things like grass (probably astroturf), water and wood court floors. You’ll see in the sample layouts I shared above that these papers will mix and match easily with the existing Back to School Designer Papers.

Of course you know we also have to have a new tool! Introducing the Notebook Edge BMC, which I have already been told is giving some of my schoolteacher friends just a smidge of anxiety. :) I promise never to turn in homework with an edge like that (thank goodness for easy-tear perforations!) but it does make a cute accent on a scrapbook page!
